Todorov's Theory
Tzvetan Todorov Identified the structure of narrative theory whilst intergrating his own theory of Equilibrium and Disequilbrium.
The theory:
All Narratives most follow a five part structure. it begins with a state of Equilbrium, Where everything is balanced. As the narrative progresses, a form of disruption occurs which affects the current state of Equilibrium and finally a solution has been reached where Equilbrium is restored.
The five stages of a narratives progression :
1) A state of Equilibrium (all as it should be) - Introduction to characters
2) A disruption of that specific order occurs
3) A Recognition (realisation) that the problem has occured
4) An attempt to repair the damage of the disruption
5) A return or restoration of a new equilibrium
